GCSA Financial Management Certification Program

GCSA Financial Management Certification Program kicks off on Thursday, September 16, 2021

The course is offered virtually this fall, and is comprised of six courses. Each course is split into two, four-hour sessions in the same week. To register, please complete this registration form

This training is specifically designed to build the expertise and knowledge of charter school leaders and board members who oversee school financial operations. However, registration is open to all interested charter school employees. Our rigorous program is tailored to address the unique financial issues facing charter schools. 

Each course will be offered twice – once in the fall, and again in the spring.  Attendees may register to attend one or all courses in a given semester.  

Each course starts at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 1:30 p.m. The courses offered in the fall semester are as follows:

  • Governmental Accounting 101: Thursday, Sept. 16 & Friday, Sept. 17     
  • QBE Funding & School Budget Development: Thursday, Oct. 14 & Friday, Oct. 15
  • Policy Development, Implementation & Evaluation: Monday, Oct. 25 & Thursday, Oct. 28
  • Payroll, Compensation & Procurement Policies & Practices: Wednesday, Nov. 10 & Friday, Nov. 12
  • Internal Controls & Effective Financial Oversight: Wednesday, Dec. 8 & Friday, Dec. 10
  • Audit Preparation Best Practices: Thursday, Jan. 14, 2022 & Friday, Jan. 15, 2022

Cost

The cost per course is $300, or $1620 for all six courses which includes a 10% discount if paid in full upfront.  The course fee must be paid prior to the beginning of each course. 

Scholarships are available to SCSC authorized schools.

Additional Information 

If an attendee misses a course in the fall, they will have the opportunity to complete it again in the spring.  Following each course, attendees must take and pass an exam (with a score of 75% or higher) to earn their certification. Participants have up to three years to take and pass all exams in order to earn certification.
