The State Charter Schools Commission (SCSC) of Georgia offers various internship opportunities to students who are currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs relating to education policy, law, administration, economics, or a related field. The specific internship postings are listed below.
Ideal candidates should be interested in learning more about the charter school authorization process and the SCSC’s oversite functions; demonstrate superior academic performance in their programs of study; excellent analytical and research skills; and proactive attitudes. Additionally, exceptional candidates will possess superior writing abilities. Interns can expect to gain valuable insight into Georgia government, law, the charter school movement, educational reform, and the workings of a state agency while simultaneously honing research and writing skills. Interns will also be privy to agency meetings and meetings with external stakeholders.
Interns are paid at a $12 hourly rate and are expected to work a minimum of 18 hours and can work a maximum of 28 hours per week. Ideally, the internship would run through the entirety of the fall, spring or summer semester. Start dates and end dates can be flexible.
Note: the application requires the submission of a resume or curriculum vitae, a transcript of grades (a copy of an unofficial transcript will suffice), a cover letter explaining your interest, and the contact information for two references. Applications that do not contain all required documents will not be reviewed. All application materials must be received by the deadline listed in the internship listing. Interviews will be held on a rolling basis.
