After serving as a commissioner for the State Charter Schools Commission of Georgia (SCSC) since its establishment in 2013, Commissioner Paul Williams announced his resignation from the board to contribute his expertise to charter schools in a new way. A passionate supporter of public charter schools and the benefits that they can provide to students across the state, Mr. Williams wished to end his career working on behalf of state charter schools that serve Georgia’s at-risk students. Prior to accepting this position, Mr. Williams made the difficult decision to step down from the SCSC board.

“The SCSC board and staff thank former Commissioner Williams for the many contributions that he has made to the SCSC,” said State Charter Schools Commission of Georgia Executive Director Lauren Holcomb. “Throughout his tenure, Commissioner Williams remained steadfast in his pursuit of quality on behalf of Georgia’s students and belief that all children deserve excellent educational opportunities. We wish him well in his new role and thank him for the solid foundation that he helped to build.”

SCSC Vice-Chairman Buzz Brockway will assume the SCSC Chairmanship until such time that the SCSC elects a new Chairman.
