SCSC Authorizer Evaluations

Georgia law requires all charter authorizers to undergo an annual evaluation adhering to the established set of principles and standards. The evaluation must be conducted by an experienced, third-party provider and is based on the standards outlined in the Evaluation Tools below.

2025 Evaluation Results

For the third consecutive year, the SCSC received an Exemplary rating on the Georgia Principles and Standards for Charter School Authorizing evaluation. SCSC staff presented the evaluation results, areas of strength, areas for growth and next steps at the September 24, 2025, SCSC board meeting. All related materials are included below.

A Majority of Georgia Charter School Authorizers Meets Standards

Nine charter school authorizers met the Georgia Principles and Standards for Charter School Authorizing in a recent evaluation. Two local district authorizers, Atlanta Public Schools and DeKalb County Public Schools, and the statewide authorizer, the State Charter School Commission, were awarded the highest overall rating of Exemplary.
