SCSC Internship Program
Background
The State Charter Schools Commission (SCSC) of Georgia offers various internship opportunities to students currently enrolled in senior-year undergraduate or graduate programs related to education policy, law, administration, economics, or a related field. The specific internship postings are listed below.
Ideal candidates should be interested in learning more about the charter school authorization process and the SCSC’s oversight functions, demonstrate superior academic performance in their programs of study, have excellent analytical and research skills, and have a proactive attitude. Additionally, exceptional candidates will possess superior writing abilities. Interns can expect to gain valuable insights into Georgia government, law, the charter school and school choice movement, educational reform, and the workings of a state agency, while simultaneously honing their research and writing skills. Interns will also be privy to agency meetings and meetings with external stakeholders.
Interns are paid an hourly rate of $18 and are expected to work a minimum of 18 hours and can work a maximum of 28 hours per week. Ideally, the internship would run through the entirety of the fall, spring, or summer semester. Start dates and end dates can be flexible.
Application
The application requires the submission of a resume or curriculum vitae, a transcript of grades (a copy of an unofficial transcript will suffice), a cover letter explaining your interest, and the contact information for two references. Applications that do not contain all required documents will not be reviewed. Interviews will be held on a rolling basis.
