Mike previously served as chair of the founding board of the charter school Fulton Academy of Science and Technology. He has a passion for youth and public service and is very active in the community. He is a foster parent, usher, lay leader, and a past chair of the church council at Johns Creek United Methodist. He has refereed high school basketball and football across Georgia for 30 years.  Mike was very active in the Boy Scouts with his now grown sons, and led five different 10 day adventure trips of high school aged boys on backpacking and canoeing expeditions.  He serves on several non-profit foundation boards.

Mike and his wife, Lori, live in southern Forsyth County.
